On the skin of things I’m a writer, diarist, photographer, yogini, nomad, explorer. A curious storyteller, to tie it whole.
I was born with a wandering heart and gypsy blood. Traveling had always been a dream. I would always wonder about the world in the hopes that one day I would be able to explore it. I’d always live for new experiences and random adventures. Whenever people asked me where in the world I’d want to live I’d always say in different cities, different countries, different continents throughout my life. But it wasn’t until four years ago when I finally gained the courage to step out of the bubble and leap into the world that was waiting for me. That’s when the idea started settling in my head and it became reality. I decided to drop out of college and chase my dreams. And my dreams came in twos: Travel the world and do what I love. That was enough for me to run with. So I ran. I chased those two things without abandon and I never looked back.
The insatiable urge to move has led me through hiking in the heart of the Costa Rican jungles and zip lining through tropical rain forests, floating in islands of Panama, rock climbing on the limestone cliffs of Southern Thailand, finding freedom on a scooter zipping through the valleys of Northern Thailand, sleeping in a bamboo hut with an indigenous tribe in the Philippines, sliding through the waves of Siargao Island, trekking through ancient rice terraces, swimming in bliss somewhere in the hidden lagoons of Palawan, skinny dipping with kindred spirits in Indonesia, biking through the Gili Islands, swimming with whale sharks in Cebu, meditating on the very edge of a waterfall in Laos, kayaking through the Mekong and chasing river dolphins, wandering in a state of complete awe through the ancient temples of Cambodia, watching the sun rise and set over the temples of Bagan in Burma, meditating in silence for ten days in Malaysia, and now replenishing and building a nest as I write my first book in Australia. I let myself fall in love with the world moving through me each day.
Deep down I always knew that my life was never mine to keep. All the beauty, life and infinite moments that floods through my senses becomes words and photographs for others to witness. I show this to people, to remind what their soul innately knows. To remind them that we are all tied to one another, experiencing each other in reflection. And to unify them with the belief that there is beauty everywhere, in light and in darkness.

Hi Satori,
I read an article which is your writing on the Huffington post about “Why we travel”. It inspired me a lot and I would like to translate it into my language, Vietnamese. Could you give me an authorization to make the article more popular to Vietnamese wanderers?
It would be great to get the acceptance from you.
Best Regards,
Minh Nhat

Great posts, Stephanie! I appreciate your honesty. It is beautiful. Thanks for sharing your adventures and photos! Makes me envious of your travels.
Best,

It sounds like you were reading my mind. Chasing one’s dreams is probably the most important thing and and lesson you can learn via traveling. And never to give up. I am planning on a big trip now myself, but since it is all so short term I will definitely have troubles figuring out how to pay for all of my education and everything but just follow the dream and don’t give up right? Everything has it’s way and it might sound tacky but the universe has it’s way of taking care of us. Or god, or evolution, whatever each and every single person believes in.
Thank you so much for all the positive words, they do let me hope for the best 😉
Wow your page is super awesome. I love all the voyages you’ve been on. Hope I can one be as well traveled as you.
